Take a moment to reflect on how you can make a difference in the community in your own way.
During the St. Patrick’s Day season, I always make a point to remind myself and our FINNEGANS team why we do what we do. The month of March is our largest sales month of the year – we organize pub crawls and work ourselves silly trying to get FINNEGANS beer features in bars and restaurants and displays in liquor stores – we do our best to put a bright spotlight on our little-beer-engine-that-could brand for 31 days.
The pay off for all of this hard work is that if we reach our sales goals for March we will provide 42,000 meals for those in need in our beer markets (Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin). Mind you, we’re not only doing this in March; we donate all our profits year around. Our goal for 2011 is to provide 265,000 meals to those in need. We chose hunger as our community issue to address in 2011 due to the frightening increases in demand for food. I have read that the demand at some food shelves is up over 90 percent…all of this going on in the wealthiest country in the world. For me, there is something really wrong with that.
Please take a moment during the St. Patrick’s Day season to reflect on how you can make a difference in the community in your own way – volunteer at your favorite charity, help an old lady across the street, buy that guy standing at the intersection a burger. Whatever you do, make sure it comes from the heart. It truly does take a village…
We also encourage you to support our brand and our mission and we invite you to hoist a FINNEGANS or two with your friends and colleagues and spread the good word about how you are making a difference by choosing to (responsibly) drink the only beer in the world (and local beer to boot!) that donates all of its profits back to the community.
I invite you to visit our FINNEGANS Community Fund page and have a look at our local food partners and the good work that they are doing out there to address our growing hunger issues – there are loads of ways to get involved.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
