FINNEGANS Expands Sales of Charitable Craft Beer into Iowa
Twin Cities Socially Conscious Beer Company Partners with Food Bank of Iowa
to Help Raise Funds to Feed the Hungry

January 13, 2015, MINNEAPOLIS – Twin Cities based craft beer company FINNEGANS today announced it will begin distributing its brews in Iowa beginning February 2015. The brand will team up with the Food Bank of Iowa to continue its mission of delivering quality produce to local food shelves.
Fifteen years ago FINNEGANS was the first beer company to donate 100 percent of its profits to charities that alleviate hunger and has been at the forefront of social entrepreneurship ever since. Expansion into Iowa follows a busy 2014, which also saw FINNEGANS launch their Reverse Food Truck – a food truck that takes food donations for food shelves. The idea has since been replicated in six markets across North America.
“Iowa was a natural next market for us to sell our craft beer,” says Jacquie Berglund, FINNEGANS, CEO. “Iowa is a growing craft beer market and they have a long history of charitable giving. We’re delighted to help connect those two passions and work with an organization as respected as the Food Bank of Iowa to help the hungry.”
According to Meals from the Heartland, one in eight of all Iowans is food insecure, while one in six Iowa children do not have enough to eat and over 350,000 statewide residents live at, or below, the national poverty level.
FINNEGANS, the second longest running social enterprise to donate 100% of profits behind only Newman’s Own, partners with a food bank in every state where FINNEGANS beer is sold. Funds from beer sales of FINNEGANS Amber, Blonde Ale and limited edition brews are used to purchase produce from local growers in each state, which is then distributed to local food shelves through food bank partners.
