FINNEGANS Hires Ryan Mihm As First Head Brewer for New Downtown Brewery

Minneapolis, MN – July 25, 2017 – FINNEGANS Brew Co today announced Ryan Mihm as Head Brewer at its new production brewery in East Town Minneapolis and the Elliot Park neighborhood. Unveiled earlier this year, the new FINNEGANS House development will consist of a production brewery and taproom, as well as a social entrepreneurship venture and workspace alongside a planned hotel as part of the new Kraus-Anderson Block.

Mihm will be FINNEGANS first official Head Brewer as the popular beer and community funder has heretofore been brewed through contractual arrangements, most recently with Summit Brewery in St. Paul, MN.

Ryan’s creativity and passion around creating new beer recipes as well as his commitment to FINNEGANS values will be a huge asset to FINNEGANS team as we build out our beer portfolio.”

Mihm has brewed for New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins, Colorado and Allagash Brewing Co of Portland, Maine before most recently setting up shop as Head Brewer with Insight Brewing Co of Minneapolis, Minn.

In July, Insight Brewing and Mihm took home four awards, a gold, silver and two bronze, at this year’s US Open Beer Championships.

“To be FINNEGANS’ Head Brewer at this exciting time is both an amazing honor and a serious responsibility,” said Mihm. “FINNEGANS will finally have a place to call its own where patrons can fully experience the FINNEGANS brand and mission. I look forward to spearheading this new venture, creating innovative new brews and continuing the quality crafts that have built this brand, all to further our community impact to help our neighbors in need.”

FINNEGANS first blazed a trail through the craft brewery industry with its innovative social impact model designating all of its profits to charitable causes. It became part of the first cohort of Benefit Corporations in Minnesota and returns all of its profits to the communities in which its products are sold through its support of local agriculture and food shelves.

The FINNEGANS House project is being developed and built by Kraus-Anderson as part of its new downtown mixed-use development. The brewery is a partnership with Badger Hill Brewing Company, while the social business concept is a collaboration with the Impact Hub MSP, a community of innovators and entrepreneurs dedicated to driving positive social change.

FINNEGANS and Badger Hill will brew out of two locations, Badger Hill’s 16,000 sq. ft. Shakopee brewery and the new 11,000 sq. ft. FINNEGANS House brewery. The breweries will produce Badger Hill’s brands one day and simply change over to FINNEGANS’ products the next. This type of agreement permits the two brewers to share equipment, ingredients and eliminate other redundancies, leading to leaner organizations and operations on both sides, while providing the highest quality products.

FINNEGANS will begin its own brewing operations in early 2018, transitioning from its partnership with Summit. The complete FINNEGANS House development has an expected completion date of Spring 2018.
