What experience did you take away that has been the most helpful in your job now?
It is hard to pinpoint one thing that has helped me the most in my current job, because Jacquie and team were so great about letting me have a wide variety of experiences. If I had to pick one, I believe that it would be the targeted emails we sent to sell tickets for pub crawls. This experience helped me learn to sort data and craft different messages for audiences – something I use in my marketing role at my current company. Another one (because it was so hard to narrow down) was the tracking I did for our social media presence and website. After the weekly reports, I was able to uncover trends out of raw data – which is a very valuable skill in any organization.
How did your experience at FINNEGANS help you land your job you have right now?
Not only did working at FINNEGANS help me build technical skills, it also helped me gain a respect for the community around me, understand a strong business model and become a well-rounded candidate in the workforce. The company I work for today has community service as one of the core values, and in my interview I referenced the great work and meals I was able to help raise during my time at FINNEGANS. I find that a company as unique as FINNEGANS – turning beer into food (literally!) – is something that catches people’s attention and is a great conversation piece in interviews. You will find that doing good goes a long way for your future (and teaches you a lot!).
Do you feel more connected to your local community? Do you feel like you have made a positive impact in your local community?
I do feel more connected to my community after working for FINNEGANS. There really is not a greater feeling than being able to do work that you are proud of. Just working for Jacquie and seeing her dedication and passion for helping others is enough to inspire anyone to take steps towards becoming more involved in philanthropy. Taking on hunger has never been more crucial, and your help as a FINNtern will truly make a difference in our communities.
What was your favorite part of FINNternship?
My favorite part of my FINNternship was the creativity and energy that I felt in the office everyday. Whether it was brainstorming ideas for a new event over a pint and pizza, tracking our activity on social media sites, or rallying volunteers for a sampling, I always felt like my opinion was valued. You can count on being a part of a truly amazing and dedicated team as a FINNtern. If you have the opportunity to join the amazing team at FINNEGANS, do not hesitate to do so!
