Econ Salon

March 9 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

The Econ Salon at Finnegans Taproom

“Together, let’s get some Econ Extra Credit”
Inspired by David Brancaccio’s “Econ Extra Credit” on NPR‘s Marketplace, members of the FINNOVATION Lab community are coming together for weekly meet-ups to discuss how economics impact our work in the Twin Cities and unite (or divide) our communities — and we hope you’ll join us.

Monday nights are for flexing your econ muscles at FINNEGANS.
The social entrepreneur fellows at FINNOVATION Lab thought about having a book club of our own. Then we thought, what could be better than reimagining the future of economics with beer in hand, in our local juncture of capitalism and social good, FINNEGANS taproom?

This isn’t your average supply and demand curve.
Many of us weren’t taught the kind of economics we intend to explore in the next 15 weeks — the kind that captures seemingly non-economic issues our world faces in 2020 and beyond. Things like climate change and wealth inequality.

NPR Marketplace brought us a free, open-sourced curriculum that we’ll follow for the next 15 weeks. We’ll be covering units 1-5, 7-10, and 16-21.

Together, we’ll build an economics toolkit beginning Monday, February 10th Our goal is help us all authoritatively address whatever the great issue that’s on the table: It could be rent control, the minimum wage, deficit spending or why a new car loses so much value the moment it’s driven from the dealership.

When/Where:
Mondays 5-6PM @ FINNEGANS Lounge
Look out for the key weekly question on Thursdays, on Facebook and Twitter at #EconSalon.

Find the curriculum here: https://www.core-econ.org/espp/index.html and join us Monday.
