May brings my 42nd 365-day trip around the sun and a plethora of new beers to the taproom and in 750 ml bottles available on my special day. We are reopening our taproom with extended hours and programming so you can come by and sit in the sun and enjoy a pint starting May 1. Kicked to the Herb will be gracing our tap lines again on April 29 along with last year’s favorite, Blood Orange Pilsner. We are also celebrating 10 years of having an MS150 team of riders coming down from Duluth to St.Paul to raise money for the MS Society to help fight MS. I brewed a beer specifically for this team to say thank you for all they do for and I hope it quenches your thirst too. Let’s get down to it.
Trails End Pale Ale 5.3% ABV 53 IBU
This is a classic-styled West Coast Pale Ale. Brewed with 2-row base malt, 4% caramel malt, and Cara Pils. Hopped with Cascade, more Cascade, and Simcoe. Then dry hopped with more cascade. A slight orange and copper color with notes of sweet malt and a bitter hop bite. The aroma is pineapple, pine, and grapefruit. A throwback ale to a California brewery that started America’s hop craze. A dry and pleasant beer to have a few. TeamFINN riders, you have done us proud over the years.
Wild Berry Blender 7.1% ABV
Our 3rd Barrels of Life beer in 2021. It is a blend of five different beers aged on fruit from 2.5 years to 11 months. An American Wild Ale aged in Oak barrels on blood orange, wild plums, rhubarb, and blueberries. Subtlety sour and mildly bretty. Mild fruit character throughout with a sour bite from the fruit, brett, and lactobacillus. Available on tap and in the bottle on May 13.
Blood Orange Pilsner 6.0% ABV 35 IBU
This is the fourth season of one of our taproom favorites. This year we fermented the pilsner over 880 pounds (280 lbs more than in 2020) of blood orange puree to lend its pleasant orange and grapefruit flavors meld into the brew. Completely crushable for being a little higher in ABV, but a wonderful beer to drink while grilling or just enjoying yourself while watching the trees finally bud after their cold slumber.
Kicked To The Herb Hemp Pale Ale 5.5% ABV 45 IBU
Bringing back this beer for a third season a treat, to say the least. Brewed with hemp seeds from MN Hemp Growers and large doses of malted red and white wheat along with Citra, Chinook and local Zenia hops from Mighty Axe hops. Slightly bitter and grassy on the nose and tongue. Pine and resin linger throughout. Delicious and hard to stop drinking.
Tipped Cow Farmhouse Ale 6.0% ABV 35 IBU
The Belgian Saison. Dry, rustic, and thirst-quenching, and ale to celebrate warmer days ahead. Brewed with a heavy dose of wheat malt and Cascade and Mandarina Bavaria hops. Tangerines and peppercorns in the aroma, slight orange hue with a crisp bubbly finish. Put on your overalls and rain boots and get in the field. Tip back a few cans and let the cattle sleep.
Come by and see us when you can. Spring and summer’s lighter, hoppier, and refreshing beers are coming back. Don’t be a stranger. We love having you with us. As always, stay safe and raise a pint of FINNEGANS.
