THANK YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING FINNEGANS!
It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten years since FINNEGANS made its humble beginnings. On September 1, 2000 I had no idea what kind of project I was embarking on. All I really knew was that the product that had been created, FINNEGANS Irish Amber, was a fantastic tasting product, the business model could prove to be sustainable and that I was filled with passion to be starting a company with a mission to donate 100 percent of its profits back to the community to help alleviate poverty.
There has been absolutely nothing easy about this journey, but they say that anything worthwhile is never easy and I have learned this to be a truth. I initially never planned for FINNEGANS to be a volunteer-run company. When I would be pouring beer at tasting events and telling my story, folks would become energized and ask if I needed help and I thought, yeah I really did need some help. We now have hundreds of volunteers that assist us with every aspect of the business.
I never cease to be amazed by the selfless commitment of so many very busy people with very busy lives who help us carry out our mission. It gives me great hope when individuals and organizations share their time and talents to support those in need in our community. It has taken a village to cultivate this brand over the past ten years. We now have one full-time employee, three contract professionals and two part-time staff. I am quite certain that our team puts in many more hours than they report; their commitment and passion inspires me on a daily basis.
We have been blessed with pro-bono/sliding scale partnerships with amazingly talented professionals – such as Martin|Williams our ad agency, Lindquist & Vennum our law firm, Haberman and Associates our PR Firm – Knowledge Sphere Inc, our coaching support. We would not be where we are today without this kind of support, and in some cases this support has been over several years. I have also been guided by many advisors and our nonprofit board who have continuously and unconditionally been there for me throughout the years and I am very grateful for all of their contributions.
I have deep-felt gratitude for our brewing partner, Summit Brewing Company, our distributors, bars, restaurants and liquor stores that have supported our brand over many years – this is especially heartfelt for those that jumped in during the early years when no one had even heard of FINNEGANS. Today, to enjoy a FINNEGANS at Target Field or at the Minnesota State Fair, or at one of the other 1000+ locations feels almost overwhelming to see how far we have come!
I invite you to look at our 10 Years of giving in the FINNEGANS Community Fund section of our website. This is the stuff that gets me up in the morning and this is the stuff that engages and energizes all of our supporters and volunteers. It illustrates how each and every one of us can make a difference in the community. It is powerful.
Want to help too? (I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t have a call to action!)
There are loads of ways to support our efforts. You can buy our beer, give it as a gift, share it with friends, and share our story! Even if you aren’t a beer lover, you can support our charitable gaming at Green Mill Restaurants in Eagan and St. Paul – we have bingo and pull tabs with all of the profits going back to the community. You can become a volunteer for FINNEGANS, you can make a donation….absolutely loads of ways to help!
A huge thank you for all of the community support that has helped us to grow this brand over thepast ten years…we couldn’t do it without each and every one of you. I would lastly like to thank my family –imagine how they must have all thought I had lost my main marble when I started this company. They have been very supportive all along the way. My sister allowed me to live rent free with her for several years while I got this up and running, I worked out of her basement…my how far we have come.
