If you’ve been looking for a cure for the recent heatwave we’ve been stuck in, just wait until you check out some of the concoctions bartenders around the Twin Cities have been coming up with that include Blonde Ale or Irish Amber for our summer cocktail contest. Here are a few highlights of the entries so far.

FINNEGANS Beergarita

Made with Blonde Ale, Jameson, Triple Sec, and Sweet and Sour, courtesy of Hollie Williams of Wild Bill’s in Apple Valley. A beautiful meeting of Irish and Mexican drinking traditions.

The Tall Blondie

Made with Absolut Citron, Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, Pinapple Juice, Blonde and Irish Amber Ale, courtesy of Vanessa Klisiewicz of Shennnanigan’s Pub in Rosemount. Probably the classiest looking submission we’ve gotten so far. Make sure you put your pinky out if you try this one.

Shamrock Shandy

Made of two parts Irish Amber Ale, one part lemonade and mint simple syrup, garnished with mint leaves and a lemon slice, courtesy of Christie Gambino of Courtyard Mariott. If the past week’s weather is any indication of the rest of the summer, I think an order of these is in order.

FINNEGANS Cordial

Made of Bailey’s, Kahlua, Stoli Vanilla, Chambord, and Irish Amber Ale, courtesy of David Paradise of the Valley Tap House in Apple Valley. Looks creamy and delicious, like a late night alternative to an iced coffee.
