A Jam-Packed Weekend of Doing Good

Beer lovers and do-gooders, there is something I need to warn you about: summer is dangerously close to ending. That means Blonde Ale will be flying off the shelves for the last time, and it won’t be back until next summer. We’re already a week into August, and is with all good things, the closer you get to the end, the faster the end seems to come. What can you possibly do to hold onto summer for a bit longer?

If you’ve been missing out on good times lately, we have you covered. There’s a whole summer’s worth of beer drinking, comradery, and Irish proverb-saying packed into this weekend.

Irish Fair

First off, the Irish Fair starts today at Harriet Island, and it goes until Sunday. If you’ve never been to the Irish Fair before, take note: It’s free. The FINNEGANS flows like water (there will be free tastings, as well as pints available.) There is live music, including our very own Hounds of Finn. There’s a Best Legs in a Kilt contest. All in all, the Irish Fair is a great tradition that you shouldn’t miss. Get all the info here.

Twin Cities Beer Fest

If you’re looking to try nearly every beer that exists, the Twin Cities Beer Fest at the Mall of America has your number on Saturday the 11th. Also, this is probably the only time you can drink non-FINNEGANS beer and still feel extra good about yourself, because proceeds from the even go to the FINNEGANS Community Fund. You get unlimited two-ounce poors with the price of admission. There will also be live music, games and competitive eating.

Brew at the Zoo

If that doesn’t sound like enough for your Friday night, FINNEGANS will also be at Brew at the Zoo, where you can hang out with animals while you get your drink on. You also get a souvenir glass and free appetizers. This might be the only time you get to go to the zoo without hundreds of children screaming at the monkeys.

Irish Fest LaCrosse

If one Irish Fair isn’t enough for you, LaCrosse, Wisconsin is holding Irish Fest on Saturday the 11th. They have a kilt contest too, but there’s also a contest for best original Irish toast, best homemade mashed potatoes, and traditional Celtic Highland Games.

Twins Territory TC 4K
Seriously, if you can take this all in, you’ll be legendary among charitable beer-drinkers. Maybe we’ll even make a plaque for you and put it in the office. You also might want to work off some of the extra beer calories by running in the Twins Territory TC 4k. That’s right, it’s not quite a 5k, so don’t freak out. The race starts by the metrodome and goes up the scenic banks of the Mississippi, ending up at Target Field. The entry fee is $49, and that includes a commemorative race T-shirt and a ticket to any one of three Twins games the next weekend against the Seattle Mariners. Best of all, portions of the proceeds go to the FINNEGANS Community Fund, putting fresh produce in local food shelves.

Here’s to the many ways of doing good this weekend.
